Century Celebrates Opening of Anchor Place

Yesterday, Century, the City of Long Beach, and dozens of partners and supporting agencies celebrated the grand opening of Anchor Place, a 120-unit affordable housing development for families and veterans experiencing homelessness.

Located within the Century Villlages at Cabrillo campus owned and operated by Century, the five-story development includes 75 units reserved for veterans experiencing homelessness and 45 units set aside for extremely low-income residents. Anchor Place consists of a mix of one-, two-, and three-bedroom units, extensive open space, and courtyard recreational areas.

“Providing affordable, safe, and secure housing for a veterans and families is a key to addressing the City’s housing needs,” said Councilmember Roberto Uranga. “This development will support the tremendous efforts at the Century Villages at Cabrillo, and further promote vibrant and diverse communities.”

Residents have access to comprehensive on-site supportive services including case management, physical and mental health services, employment services, life skills training, and counseling.

“Century is very proud of Anchor Place and what has been created in the larger Villages at Cabrillo community,” said Ronald M. Griffith, President & CEO of Century Housing. “We are grateful for the investment and contributions of our many partners that have created this special community where lives are being transformed.”

 

Aszkenazy Brings 62 Affordable Homes to San Fernando

paark_view_opening1Residents of the City of San Fernando have Aszkenazy Development, Inc. to thank for Park View Place, a new residential development providing 62 homes affordable to low-income individuals and families, with some reserved for those with special needs. Aszkenazy Development has played an integral role in revitalizing the City of San Fernando, with Park View Place being just one of their standout achievements.  Park View Place is strategically located directly across from a park and regional pool facility and features a large courtyard, gym, outdoor community firepit, computer lab, and resident services provided by L.A. Family Housing and Partners in Care.

Los Angeles County Supervisor Zev Yaroslavsky joined San Fernando Mayor Antonio Lopez to stress the positive economic and social impacts of affordable housing development. Century was recognized for providing critical financial support through $650,000 in acquisition financing and a $791,000 letter of credit during the course of construction.

Lending Matters in May

On May 29th, Century attended the Grand Opening of Terra Bella in Bell Gardens, where we received a Letter of Recognition from Congresswoman Lucille Roybal-Allard for our contribution. The 65 unit low-income senior housing project, developed by Abode Communities, was supported by a $3,179,000 Century acquisition loan.

Also last month, developer Prakash Chandran received $593,000 in Century construction financing to build four workforce apartments in a low-income census tract of the Pico-Union district in Los Angeles. Construction is set to be completed by the end of the year.

Del Rey Square Opens to LA Seniors

Del Rey Square OpeningLos Angeles City Councilman Bill Rosendahl took the wraps off Del Rey Square, a 124 unit senior housing community in West Los Angeles, on April 12, 2013. Open to formerly homeless  and low-income seniors, the complex includes a computer room, fitness center, and private balconies and patios which complement the spectacular Spanish-style exterior.

Century helped finance the project with a $9,547,500 acquisition loan through the New Generation Fund to Thomas Safran & Associates, an award-winning developer responsible for more than 40 properties throughout Los Angeles.

Menlo Family Apartments Opens in Central LA

Menlo Family Apartments Opening

Little Tokyo Service Center (LTSC) and Koreatown Youth & Community Center’s (KYCC) newly developed Menlo Family Apartments opened  its doors to low-income and special needs residents last month. The development transformed a crime-ridden corner near the intersection of Pico Blvd. and Vermont Ave. into 60 low-income family and special needs apartments.

Menlo Family Apartments targets families earning less than 50% of Los Angeles area median income, with an entire 30 units set aside for homeless families, homeless families with children with mental illness, and homeless transitional aged youth. Over 4,000 square feet of service space and community rooms make up the ground floor providing after-school programs, life skills training, financial literacy and parenting, and mental health counseling and treatment, led by KYCC.

Century contributed $1,220,000 to the project’s acquisition and predevlopment financing.
