Los Angeles, CA – World Savings Real Estate Group has presented The More Than Shelter family of services with an $8,500 check to support the growth of its More Than Shelter social programs, which include after-school tutoring for at-risk students, career counseling for men and women to enter the construction trades, child development for low-income families, transitional housing for formerly homeless veterans and families, and wellness programs for seniors . “More Than Shelter programs have served more than 67,000 Southern California residents, and this gift from World Savings will help continue and expand these vital services,” said G. Allan Kingston, President & CEO of Century Housing, which established the More Than Shelter programs to serve the Los Angeles community. “With fewer and fewer federal monies available for social programs, the need for helping families, children, teens, veterans and seniors is severe,” he said. More Than Shelter features child development services for low-income families, senior wellness programs, transitional housing for formerly homeless men, women, families and veterans, after-school academic tutoring for at-risk youth, and job training for men and women to enter the construction trades.
