CEO of Los Angeles Nonprofit Affordable Housing Lender Gives Testimony at Governor’s First California Performance Review Commission Hearing at U.C. Riverside

Riverside, CA — G. Allan Kingston, President and CEO of nonprofit housing lender Century Housing, provided testimony Friday for the first of several hearings for Governor Schwarzenegger’s California Performance Review commission. Kingston was the only affordable housing expert scheduled to testify during the entire review process.

“I am honored to represent the affordable housing interest at this hearing,” said Kingston, who also serves as the current Chairman of the National Housing Conference, a Washington-based affordable housing advocacy group. Century Housing is one of California’s largest nonprofit housing lenders.

“California is in a housing crisis, and I am pleased to have an opportunity to offer my comments and recommendations to the commission. There are solutions out there, and to be able to get an audience with the people who have the ability to implement them, and make real changes, is an important occasion,” said Kingston.

Some of Kingston’s recommendations included a careful implementation of the California Performance Review’s proposed consolidation of certain housing agencies, and considering the impact urban school development is having upon the surrounding community and nearby housing stock.
