Los Angeles, CA – Early Bird cash prizes totaling $47,240 were awarded Tuesday in The More Than Shelter Fund Dream Home Raffle, benefiting social programs for low-income families, homeless veterans, low-income seniors and individuals in the Los Angeles community. Los Angeles County Sheriff Lee Baca drew six of the Early Bird winners, including one $30,000 cash prize, awarded to a ticket buyer from Danville, Virginia. The Grand Prize, a $1.5 million Beverly Hills home or $1 million cash, will be awarded in May. The official Early Bird drawing was held at the Parkside Century/Learning Initiatives For Today (Century/LIFT) after-school tutoring site in Los Angeles, one of the More Than Shelter® social programs that will benefit from the raffle proceeds. Other More Than Shelter services benefiting from the raffle are transitional housing for homeless veterans, free child care for low-income families, wellness programs for seniors, and construction job training and placement for men and women to transition off welfare. Tickets for the May Grand Prize drawing, including 180 additional cash prizes totaling more than $150,000, are still available for $180 each by calling 1-866-90-“90210.” For official contest rules and information on More Than Shelter services, visit www.centuryhousing.org. “Century Housing created the More Than Shelter programs as life-enriching amenities for people who would otherwise be missing out on a quality of life many of us take for granted,” said Allan Kingston, President and CEO of Century Housing, one of California’s largest nonprofit affordable housing lenders and the raffle sponsor. “Raffle proceeds will help sustain these programs into the future,” he said. Kingston’s hope is that the raffle will sell out all 22,000 tickets by the April 30 deadline. “For the price of two theater tickets, you can take a chance on winning the prize of a lifetime, and help change the lives of thousands of working families, veterans, seniors and individuals for the better,” he added.
